Project Overview
Koompartu Farms operates a large workshop in Monash, in South Australia’s Riverland, where morning temperatures frequently drop below zero. The Maintenance Manager described the workshop as “frigid at times” and uncomfortable to work in.
With 1,260m² to consider, the manager wanted to introduce heating in stages. He was also interested in a freestanding solution that could be repositioned around the work areas.
Starting with Two Titan Short-wave Infrared Heaters
The farm purchased two Titan Single ETH1-20 infrared heaters with two TRIPOD3 stands. The stands allowed the heaters to be positioned near selected work areas without permanent wall or ceiling mounting. This provided a starting point for heating the bays currently in use. As staffing increases and other bays become busier, additional heaters can be considered where needed.
Results — Strong Warmth During Morning Work
After receiving the heaters, the manager shared:
“The two we purchased are here and working perfectly in the morning. The heat they throw out is amazing.”
He also found the initial requirement more manageable than expected:
“Even though the heaters are pretty pricey the overall cost wont be too bad at all as I thought we would need a lot more.”
The usual sub-zero temperatures had not yet arrived at the time of his feedback, but he added: “They will be coming and we are now ready for it.”
Heating the Work Areas, Not the Full Building
Titan short-wave infrared heaters use short-wave infrared to provide radiant warmth directly to people and work areas. Unlike systems that rely on heating the surrounding air, the heaters can be mounted above selected production zones and directed towards the factory floor.
For this factory, warmth could be focused on the areas where staff were working without trying to heat the full volume of the building.
