Project Overview
Arrow MPS is a precision milling, turning and welding jobbing shop based in Victoria, specialising in mechanical components ranging from simple one-off parts to complex assemblies.
This factory equipped with CNC machines, lathes and heavy-duty equipment, is a busy environment where staff often operate at fixed workstations for long hours. During the colder months, Arrow MPS has always faced the challenge of maintaining warmth across its large production areas. With concrete floors, high ceilings, and constant draughts from roller doors, traditional factory heating systems like fan heaters and gas units struggled to provide consistent comfort. For both productivity and worker wellbeing, the company sought a heating solution that could deliver safe, reliable, and efficient warmth directly to operators without wasting energy on heating the entire air volume of the facility.
The Challenge of Heating Factories
Heating large industrial environments such as factories and workshops has always been a difficult task. These spaces typically have high ceilings, minimal insulation, and frequent air movement due to open doors or ventilation needs. Conventional systems such as gas blowers or electric convection heaters attempt to heat the surrounding air, but much of that warmth quickly escapes, leaving workers exposed to cold conditions. This not only impacts comfort but can also affect concentration, productivity, and safety on the job.
The challenge of heating this type spaces was to find a system that could overcome these limitations, providing targeted warmth where staff needed it most, without wasting energy across the entire volume of the factory.
Industrial Heating Solution with Titan Short-Wave Infrared Heaters
We recommended the Titan short-wave infrared heater for the Arrow MPS team, a robust unit specifically designed for large-scale industrial spaces such as factories, warehouses, and workshops. Unlike conventional heating systems that warm the surrounding air, Titan heaters can localise heat to warm people and objects directly.
This concept of localised heating means that instead of wasting energy trying to heat the entire factory volume, a short-wave infrared heater creates an instant “comfort zone” around the work area. The heat does not rise to the ceiling or drift away with air movement, making it especially effective in draughty spaces where roller doors are frequently opened. Staff at CNC machines, milling benches, and assembly stations feel direct warmth without interruption, even when air currents are present.
In this case, multiple Titan units were mounted at height across the factory floor, strategically positioned above key workstations. In the installation photos, Titan heaters can be seen glowing red as they deliver targeted warmth precisely where it is needed. This ensures consistent comfort for staff while keeping walkways unobstructed.
Each Titan heater provides broad coverage and instant radiant heat, with staff experiencing the benefit within seconds of switch-on. Their rugged steel housing, large patented polished reflectors and protective grill make them ideal for continuous operation in heavy-duty environments, while the long-life InFraCaLoR® halogen infrared element reduces downtime and maintenance.
Results
Since the installation, operators at lathes, CNC machines, and fabrication benches no longer have to contend with uncomfortably cold mornings or draughty conditions. The Titan infrared heaters, mounted directly above key workstations, deliver consistent and targeted warmth that allows staff to stay productive and focused on their tasks.
The feedback from the team has been positive. As the manager has noted: “The guys are happy, my biggest problem is getting them to turn them off when it warms up!” This simple comment highlights not only the comfort provided by the Titan heaters but also their effectiveness in creating a productive and welcoming work environment.
Conclusion
This workshop heating case study highlights how the Titan short-wave infrared heater can transform industrial environments by delivering safe, efficient, and targeted warmth. Its instant, targeted warm and energy efficiency make it an ideal choice for factories, workshops, and warehouses.
